Simucube has announced a new software layer called Simucube Link, designed to make a direct-drive wheelbase, pedal set, and display behave as one coordinated rig instead of three devices fighting over the same USB bandwidth. The Finnish manufacturer, a brand of parent company Granite Devices Oy based in Lempäälä, frames the release as a rework of how its own hardware components communicate internally, according to the announcement posted on Simucube’s website.

The platform sits underneath the gear most owners already run: a wheelbase, a pedal set, and True Drive, the configuration tool that has handled setup for the current Simucube lineup. None of that existing equipment changes on its own. Link is the added layer meant to make it act consistently once installed, and the company has confirmed the goal while leaving most of the details behind it unconfirmed.

USB interference on multi-device rigs

Rigs built from several separate devices share a familiar failure pattern: electromagnetic interference, random disconnects, and dropped force feedback signals when a direct-drive base, active pedals, a button box, and a display all compete for the same USB bus. Simucube points to exactly this cluster of problems as the reason Link exists, according to the company’s announcement.

On the hardware side, Link ties together the components simracers already own — wheelbase, pedals, other peripherals — into a single communication line instead of letting each device negotiate its own USB connection independently. True Drive stays in the picture as the tool most Simucube owners already use to adjust force feedback and wheelbase settings; Link is positioned to work alongside it, extending that same configuration logic to the whole rig rather than leaving pedals and other peripherals dependent on separate apps and profiles.

What’s confirmed is the scope: a platform meant to sit across the entire existing Simucube lineup, which includes the Simucube 2 wheelbase range — Sport, Pro, and Ultimate — plus the Active Pedal sets.

Several questions remain open. It’s unclear whether Link works with third-party peripherals, whether it replaces True Drive or simply runs alongside it, whether support extends past Windows, and how it actually reaches owners — bundled with new hardware or sold separately for existing rigs. Owners running gear from more than one of those brands end up juggling multiple apps and profiles just to start a session — the exact pattern Simucube describes as the problem Link is built to solve inside its own ecosystem. If the company pulls off unifying that experience across its own products, it could set a standard other manufacturers end up chasing, though third-party compatibility remains unclear for now.

The gap between ambition and detail is the real story here. Simucube has confirmed the target — one predictable system instead of a pile of separate devices — and confirmed one of the five technologies meant to get there. The other four pillars, the release window, and how current True Drive users experience the transition are all still unknown.
